Hard work & dedication

Happy horses come first.

“It's all about the horses, keeping them healthy and happy. If they're happy they'll win races, and that's what it's all about. Everyone involved gets a buzz from watching one of our horses win. And every winner is as important as the next. It's what racing is all about, training winners. And we love every minute of it!”— Brian Ellison

Teamwork

Every winner is a team effort.

Success is an immeasurable team effort. A dedicated and enthusiastic team working tirelessly behind the scenes contributes to every single winner. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere promotes a stress-free environment, which in turn reflects on the horses. Teamwork is paramount.

Ownership

The sport of kings, open to everyone.

Horse racing may be known as the “Sport of Kings” but nowadays ownership is available to everyone. Racehorse ownership is a form of recreation, not an investment, and there are several ways to enjoy the thrill.

From owners and friends

Good days are better shared.

“Brian has trained for me for 5 years. We have won at group level and been placed numerous times, winning half a million in prize money. He's a great horseman and nice honest person! (Mind you I prefer Claire myself).”

Keith Brown

“Brian has a great mix of ambition, competitiveness, work ethic and skill. He's easy going when it comes to running plans and when the big days come he knows how to enjoy them!”

Dan Gilbert

“I have said publicly on a number of occasions, that given talented horses, Brian is well capable of producing top class results. However I am of the opinion that the measure of a trainer is the ability to produce results with less capable animals. At this Brian's record speaks for itself. So often other trainers cast offs turn up at Spring Cottage and before long are in the winners enclosure. Of course racing is all about winners but of equal importance is the race day experience. Both Brian and his wife Claire are straightforward, honest and reliable people who do everything possible to make sure every owners visit to the races is a memorable and special occasion.”
