Brian Ellison Racing
Training at Spring Cottage Stables.
A highly successful dual-purpose Flat and Jumps operation at Spring Cottage Stables, with a straightforward approach and a team that knows every horse as an individual.

Spring Cottage Stables
A yard built up over time.
Spring Cottage Stables, Langton Road, Norton, Malton, North Yorkshire YO17 9PY, was bought by Brian in 2000 and is barely recognisable since. It now has capacity for 100 horses, extensively developed to give the operation the space and equipment it needs.
The yard has turn out paddocks where horses can unwind and move freely. Langton Wold, with about 120 acres of gallops, is around a twenty-minute walk away.
Brian’s story
From National Hunt jockey to trainer.
Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1952, Brian spent 20 years as a National Hunt jockey before taking out his trainer’s licence in 1989. He moved his operation to Spring Cottage Stables in 2000.
The yard has grown through hard work, determination, an open-minded approach and an honest enthusiasm for the sport. Quality and care are given equal weight.

Facilities
Practical care, from the yard to the gallops.
Second to none facilities cater for every equine’s individual needs. Horses can exercise, recover, turn out and train in a calm, well-supported routine.

Kraft Water Walker
Up to five horses can exercise at one time in varying depths of spring water, helping with leg, back and other niggling problems. Only a handful of trainers in the UK use water walkers.
A complete yard
Horse walkers, open-air stables, American barns, starting stalls and hot water showers.
Langton Wold gallops
About a twenty-minute walk away, with roughly 120 acres of polytrack and grass gallops, starting stalls, trotting rings and schooling facilities.
