Spring Cottage Stables
A stay with horses at its heart.
9 guests, with a sofa bed available on request. Spring Cottage Stables is a four bedroom bungalow set on a working racehorse training yard, the home of Brian Ellison Racing, on the edge of Norton near Malton in North Yorkshire. It’s a proper home from home for racing fans, families and anyone who fancies a break somewhere a bit different.
We’re Claire and Brian, and when you stay with us you’re staying on our yard: watch the string head out to the gallops in the morning, meet the horses in the paddock, and book a guided tour of the training yard or animal feeding on site if you’d like to get closer. We’re on hand if you need us, and the hot tub and outdoor barrel sauna will be ready and waiting for your arrival.

The property
A comfortable home from home.
A comfortable, single-level four bedroom bungalow sleeping nine across four bedrooms, with a sofa bed available on request.
The lounge has a media wall with a smart TV and an electric fire, and there’s a dining area seating everyone together and a fully equipped kitchen with two fridges, a freezer, a dishwasher and a utility room with washing machine and tumble drier. The main bathroom has a bath, and the king size bedroom has its own en-suite shower room. All electrical items are PAT tested.
Outside there’s a garden with furniture, a hot tub filled and heated for every arrival and an outdoor barrel sauna, so you can steam under the stars after a day at the races. The hot tub and sauna are included features of your stay. The sauna is for ages 16+, or 8+ accompanied by an adult. Parking is on the drive. Every stay includes a welcome pack. There are no cameras inside the property; CCTV covers the car park, drive and yard only.

Who it suits
Room for families, friends and racing fans.
Families, racing enthusiasts and groups of friends are welcome, and the bungalow suits three generations holidaying together particularly well. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement, two maximum, garden only. Big groups are welcome up to our maximum of nine guests, and we’d ask that the bungalow isn’t used as a party venue.
There are no age restrictions, though children must be supervised around the hot tub, the sauna and the yard. The sauna is for guests aged 16 and over, or ages 8 and over when accompanied by an adult; shorter sessions are recommended for younger users.
This is a real farmyard setting, so expect early mornings. Our resident cockerel starts the day early; most guests love the atmosphere, but light sleepers may want to pack earplugs.

Castle Howard, Flamingo Land, Eden Camp, the Yorkshire Wolds, Dalby Forest and the North Yorkshire Moors are all within easy reach, as are the coast at Scarborough and Filey.
Places to eat and drink
Malton’s independent food scene.

For produce, our own butcher, The Grid Iron Company, supplies the meat boxes guests can order with their stay, and Malton’s delis and monthly food market are worth a browse.
How to find us by car

We’re on Langton Road, Norton, Malton, YO17 9PY. From the A64 take the Malton exit and follow signs into Norton; the yard is on Langton Road on the eastern edge of town. Parking is on the drive.
